CyanogenMod 12 nightly build has now delivered the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to the HTC One M8 2014 flagship. The latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update delivers a number of crucial fixes that address Android 5.0 bugs including random crashes, Wi-Fi issues, and poor battery life.
Currently, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is only available on select Nexus devices. However, developers CyanogenMod 12 are working on a Lollipop-based open source OS for Android phones. For now, a 5.0.2 CyanogenMod 12 nightly build is available for some Android devices.
“We would like to note that at this point we consider ourselves 85% complete for our initial CM12 M release. We’ll spend the remainder of this month bringing up additional devices and finishing up the features you’ve come to love from CM11 – implementing them into the new Material UI,” according to a post on the official website of CyanogenMod.
The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based CyanogenMod 12 nightly build for the HTC One M8 promises full support of essential features including calls, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, camera and more. That said, please be aware that the CM12 nightly build is still unfinished and may possess untested bugs and broken features. Proceed at your own risk.
Finally, be sure to back up important data before proceeding. Make sure the phone is also holding more than a 80 percent charge. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone to connect it with the computer and use AndroidSDK with it. [Go to Settings>> About phone. Scroll down to Build number, Tap seven times on the build number. The Developer options under Settings should appear now. You can now enable USB debugging mode.]

Install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on HTC One M8 with CyanogenMod 12 nightly
1.): Connect HTC One M8 to the computer using USB cable. Without extracting move thedownloaded zip files to the SD card of the phone. Ensure that the files are in the SD card root, not in any folder
2.): Unplug the USB cable from the phone and switch it off
3.): Enter into Bootloader/Fastboot Mode. Turn on the phone while pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together.
In fastboot mode, navigate to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory and open a command prompt. For this hold Shift and Right click
4.): Type in the following command and press Enter
- fastboot flash boot boot.img
5.): Now type the following command and press Enter
fastboot reboot
6.): Follow the navigation instructions on the screen. Select Bootloader and then go to Recovery
7.): In recovery mode, perform data wipe by selecting wipe data/ factory reset. Use thePower button to select while in Recovery Mode
8.): Perform cache wipe by selecting wipe cache partition
9.): Also do a wipe of dalvik cache to avoid boot loops and other errors. From CWM recovery, go toadvanced then select wipe dalvik cache
10.): Select install zip from sdcard >> choose zip from sdcard. Using the Volume keys scroll down to folder where the CyanogenMod 12 nightly is copied. Select it using the Power button and confirm installation on the next screen
11.): Repeat the same procedure to flash Gapps file on the phone
12.): Once the installation is completed, reboot phone by selecting reboot system now from the recovery menu. The device will take about five minutes to reboot for the first time. Don't press any button during this time to interrupt the process
Your HTC One M8 should be updated with CyanigenMod 12 nightly build. Verify the installation by going to Settings>> About Phone.
