Andrea Sneiderman was sentenced to five years in jail today on several counts of perjury and lying to police. Sneiderman's husband, Rusty Sneiderman, was murdered outside of their son's preschool in November 2010. Andrea Sneiderman's former boss, Hemy Neuman is serving a life sentence for the shooting death of Rusty Sneiderman. Andrea Sneiderman was accused of having an affair with Neuman, although she maintained their relationship was not sexual. Charges were brought against the Atlanta woman after prosecutors believed she lied to police, hindering their investigation.

On Monday, a jury found Andrea Sneiderman guilty of lying to police and lying while testifying at Neuman's murder trial. Today a judge sentenced Sneiderman to five years for each count upon which she was convicted. The counts will run concurrently and the judge gave Sneiderman time served for the one year she was under house arrest. Prosecutors sought to have Sneiderman sentenced to 20 years in prison. Supporters and Sneiderman herself testified at the sentencing hearing, begging the judge to be lenient for the sake of her children.

Jurors found Andrea Sneiderman not guilty of four counts related to the accusation she knew about her husband's murder. Prosecutors had charged Andrea with murder in the death of her husband, but the charges were dismissed due to a lack of evidence. During Sneiderman's perjury trial, the prosecution played clips of her interviews with police and of her testimony at Neuman's murder trial. Using the video and audio clips along with witness testimony and documents, prosecutors believed they proved Sneiderman lied to police and to the court.

A mix of character witnesses and angry members of the Sneiderman family got up to testify at the trial and sentencing of Andrea Sneiderman. Some witnesses said Andrea and Rusty had a loving and devoted relationship. The brother of Rusty Sneiderman told the court his sister-in-law is a liar and did not deserve special treatment because she is a mother. Sneiderman's brother-in-law called her a narcissist and said her act would be funny if it were not "tied to the death of such a special person."
