Incredibly Preserved House Unearthed in Pompeii Found to Be Full of Ancient Porn

Archaeologists in Italy have uncovered a remarkably preserved house adorned with ancient porn, revealing a fascinating glimpse into the city's erotic art scene.

The excavation took place in the Insula dei Casti Amanti, or House of Chaste Lovers, an archaeological museum in Pompeii, Italy, CBS News reported.

The museum prides itself in exploring the socio-cultural dynamics of the city before the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., an event that preserved many aspects of Roman life under layers of volcanic ash.

The tiny home, provisionally named the House of Phaedra, was unearthed during an ongoing excavation.

Inside, archaeologists found several frescoes depicting erotic and mythological scenes, graphic depictions of satyrs and nymphs, as well as a notable portrayal of characters Hippolytus and Phaedra from a Greek tragedy.

In one of the frescoes, intercourse between a satyr and a nymph is shown while another features Venus, the goddess of love, and Adonis, her mortal lover.

Most of the pieces were well preserved, while some did appear to be damaged.

"It is an example of public archaeology or, as I prefer to call it, circular archaeology: conservation, research, management, accessibility and fruition form a virtuous circle," Director of the Pompeii Archaeological Park, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, said in a statement as translated by Google.

Following the discovery, researchers plan to further analyze the artwork and architectural features of the home.
