After four years heading Jornal da Record, the Brazilian journalist Ana Paula Pãdrao left the newsroom. Pãdrao announced Thursday in her last appearance with the TV news cast that she is leaving the network to devote more time to the several companies and businesses she leads.

"Ms. Pãdrao deems it impossible to conciliate her work in the companies with the routine of the news. So, both parts agree to not renovate the current contract," stated the network.

Record took the chance to thank publicly the job of the journalist.

"Ana Paula effectively helped to the consolidation of the innovative proposals in the Journalism department. Record thanks Ana Paula and wishes her success in her future endeavors."

Pãdrao said that she is leaving the network after four years to dedicate her life to "the cause that has become my passion, and that's women's rights."

Pãdrao started her career in Brasilia and started in Brazil's biggest network, Globo, where she worked as a correspondent and reporter. She joined Record in 2009.
