Ana Brenda Contreras has finally come clean about the real reason she filed for divorce from her husband Alejandro Amaya. The 28-year-old actress graces the cover of People En Español's Mexican edition and the headline reads, "I don't wish on anyone, what I lived through." Lili Estefan from "El Gordo y La Flaca" teased the story on the show and said it had to do with the bullfighter being bisexual. The couple married in Las Vegas back in March 2013 and were set to marry in November of that same year. With only days until the official wedding, the newlyweds announced they were postponing the event.
"By way of this press release we inform you that the actress Ana Brenda Contreras and the bullfighter Alejandro Hank Amaya have postponed their religious celebration of their matrimony, which was to take place Saturday, November 23," the statement said. No cause was given on why the couple was not going forward with the wedding. "So we won't create speculation we inform you that they remain together and their reasons are personal," the statement concludes. On that same day, the "Lo Imperdonable" actress wrote a cryptic message on her Twitter account: "If someone disappoints you, it could be a gift in reality."
The following year, Contreras revealed why she ended up canceling the wedding, but no specific details. She only said that distance had taken a toll on them, as he was living in Spain and she was living in Mexico, finishing up shooting "Corazón Indomable." Her divorce was Amaya was finalized in September, right after news surfaced that he was engaged to Barbara Coppel.
UPDATE: In the article, Ana Brenda, does not expressly talk about her ex-husband's sexuality. The interview is about the tough time she had making the decision and facing her family as the first divorced woman. "[The divorce] was an unfortunate result because it wasn't an easy phase and I don't wish this on anybody," she told the magazine. "It's not the responsibility of one person, it's of two and I take away the learning experience." This last part was in reference to if Amaya had cheated on her. She also explains she opted for divorce because "it's preferable than living unhappily." Ana Brenda also added: "It's better than living in a marriage that doesn't work, with someone that doesn't let you be, that cuts your wings or with someone that doesn't allow you be a better person. That is unacceptable."
