This exciting "American Idol" Season 13 is well underway and it is always interesting to get to know the contestants as the season progresses and this includes learning where they are from. This influences the styles of music they listen to and tells us a lot about their personalities. There are 31 contestants left in the competition and it is interesting to see how the majority of them are from the deep South including Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
When it comes to past "American Idol" winners, the majority of them come from the South as well, including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Kris Allen, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, and Candice Glover. We all know the amount of talent that all these artists possess. Some of them have even won grammys and numerous other awards.
Apparently by what we have seen in the past seasons, the South always seems to deliver talent wise. So what can we expect from these contestants? Pure talent. Where they are from also affects the amount of votes these contestants get and followers they obtain as the season rolls along. There are some contestants from other parts of the United States including Utah, California, North Dakota, Michigan, and Rhode Island.
Hollywood Week Round two airs Wednesday, Feb. 12 2014. The contestants will sing solo performances in front of judges. These contestants already survived the round where they had to perform group performances, being a challenge for some because they are randomly placed with other contestants and having to work together as a team to prepare a number to sing and only get one opportunity.
With the exit of veteran judge Randy Jackson, Harry Connick, Jr. gets a chance to sit at the judges’ table alongside Keith Urban, and Jennifer Lopez. He is very honest and sometimes so honest that he can be offensive, reminding viewers of when Simon Cowell was a judge. Watch "American Idol," Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on Fox to keep up with who stays and who goes.
