"American Hustle" was shot on a two-month schedule using locations in Boston, Massachusetts and New York. Filming had to be put on hold in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon attack with the city in lockdown. After lockdown was lifted, the film wrapped its Boston shoot. According to the DailyMail, in the aftermath of the bombings, Bradley Cooper was seen visiting victims of the terrorist attack in hospital and attending a church memorial service to those killed.
The film is loosely based on the ABSCAM scandal of the late 1970's and early 80's. ABSCAM was a sting operation run by the FBI out of their Long Island office located in Hauppauge. The FBI initially targeted stolen goods through the sting, but later investigated public corruption. The investigation ultimately led to the conviction of a United States Senator, six members of the House of Representatives, one member of the New Jersey State Senate, members of the Philadelphia City Council, and an inspector for the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
"American Hustle" is set for release on Christmas Day, Dec. 25 2013. Check out the trailer below!
