“American Horror Story” fans have been gifted an early Halloween treat, because a recent casting reports confirm that Neil Patrick Harris will be joining the Season 4 “Freak Show” cast! And, better yet, he is not alone, in addition to NPH, fans will be delighted to know that Harris’ off screen husband Justin Burtka will also be making his “AHS debut this season! Now you may not be as obsessed with the Harris-Burtka clan as I am, but one quick look at their annual family Halloween costumes and you will understand why they are more than qualified to join FX’s anthology series. TV Line first reported the news, although rumors of Harris’ possible involvement with “American Horror Story” have been floating around for months.
So now that fan’s know, that “Freak Show” is getting a new family, who will Harris and Burtka be playing? Well despite their off screen romance, the pair will not be a couple in the series, instead Harris will reportedly guest star in the final two episodes of “Freak Show” as a “chameleon” salesman. After Harris’ performance as Desi in this years thrilling “Gone Girl,” fans should expect the actor to put on a fantastic, yet creepy performance. As for Burtka, his role may be even more intriguing, as he will guest star in the Season 4 finale alongside Jessica Lange. According to reports, his character is involved in a storyline with Elsa Mars, could Burtka’s character be someone from her seedy past? Or perhaps he takes her away from the horrors of the “Freak Show” to begin a new life? Despite this wishful thinking, happy endings don't normally come easy to the characters of “American Horror Story” so fans should prepare for Burtka’s role to be sinister.
