Amelia Earhart is one of the most famous pilots in the world. She set and broke aviation records and wanted to be the first female pilots to fly around the world.

In 1937, when Amelia Earhart set out to cross the globe, she mysteriously vanished, never to be seen again. There have been many scholarly and conspiracy theories surrounding the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. These theories, whether they have merit or not have kept Earhart alive in the popular imagination of people all over the world.

Amelia Rose Earhart has announced she is planning to circumnavigate the globe in June 2014 and symbolically finish the flight left incomplete by her hero. The popular traffic reporter said this has been a dream of hers since she was 18. Having spent the past few years working as a private pilot and completed months of training, Earhart feels she is ready for this journey.

Next summer, Earhart and her co-pilot Patrick Carter, a fellow adventurer, will take off from Oakland for a 100-hour flight across the world. The pair plan to get as close as possible to the original flight path Amelia Earhart charted.
