'The Amazing Race: All Stars' premieres tonigh February 23 t on CBS at 8/7 central. Eleven teams are set to take to the starting line on The Amazing Race All-Stars. However, there is going to be controversy this season before the race has even begun. For the first time in the show's history, one team will be barred from competing before the show has even go its start. "After a thorough examination, our doctor determined that one team is not capable of going because of a medical concern that we had about one team member," host Phil Keoghan told TVGuide.com. "The emotion at the start of this Race is unlike any that we've ever had before. I have to break the news to everyone else. It's obviously devastating and affects not only that team and the other teams, who realize that suddenly there's this major change. This is absolutely the most dramatic thing that's ever happened. It's gut-wrenching. It broadsided us."
"I think there are a lot of fans who really like all-stars," Keoghan told Seattle Pi. "We're constantly getting hit with ideas of various combinations. It seemed timely to do another one now because there are so many teams that have come so close and there are so many great stories within those teams. There isn't a team up there that doesn't have a really great story. We listened to the fans in terms of who to come back. That doesn't mean all fans will agree with all the choices. I'm just saying those teams fans are talking about the most."
