After spending nearly six months in an inpatient treatment facility, Amanda Bynes is currently back home. The 27-year-old actress is said to be recovering at her parents' Los Angeles home after being hospitalized when she started a fire in a driveway in July, following months of erratic behavior. "Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery," Bynes' family lawyer, Tamar Arminak told People Magazine in a statement. "Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day."
"I am doing very well," the star happily told InTouch Magazine on Tuesday, Dec. 3. "I'm doing great, it's been five days since I got out of rehab." According to the magazine, an eyewitness spotted her indulging in some retail therapy on Dec. 1. "She looks healthy and was very polite and friendly," the witness said. Two days later, another onlooker spotted her and her dad strolling in their California neighborhood. "She appeared to have lost a little weight but was smiling and looked happy. She was chatting away to her dad. They were deep in conversation," the source said.
E! Online spotted the actress leaving her family's house early Thursday morning alongside her mother, Lynn. She appeared to be in good spirits and was wearing skinny jeans, a gray sweatshirt and a baseball cap. Her hair seemed to be very short and dark brown, and she had it pulled back in a low ponytail. The media outlet followed her to what appeared to be a medical building where she might have gone for a doctor's appointment since she is continuing treatment. "Despite the fact Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing," Arminak said.
"She was released within the last couple of days. She's made great strides in her progress and everyone felt it was time," the lawyer added. "She's not going to be out on her own. She's in the custody of her parents and going to outpatient therapy. She's getting re-acclimated to normal life, and part of that is enrolling in school and getting an education." Arminak added that Amanda is interested in fashion. "She's now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design. She's mentioned before she's interested in creating a clothing line." Bynes remains under a mental health conservatorship that was sought by the state and now is controlled by her mom.
