An individual was taken to a hospital for evaluation on Thursday after the person reportedly climbed the Chicago FBI building’s fence and threw rocks at the establishment, as threats against the FBI increase after the federal raid at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
The person, who was not identified by name in the official statement, supposedly scaled the high fence of the FBI field office in Chicago before hurling rocks at the building. Authorities have not noted any extensive damage caused by the unidentified individual, according to the Daily Beast.
It is unclear if the person was arrested by authorities for the act of throwing rocks and potential trespassing, but the man was reportedly brought to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The FBI did not specify any motives for the attack in their statement, CNN reported.
“The FBI Chicago facility remains secure, and there are no reported injuries or known threats to the public at this time,” Siobhan Johnson, a spokesperson for the FBI, said.
Despite the statement, a worrying increase in threats against the FBI has been noted by the press and by authorities after it was made public that the FBI had raided former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in order to retrieve documents that were taken from the White House.
Recently, Trump supporter Ricky Shiffer was killed by authorities after he attempted to breach the FBI field office in Cincinnati, dragging authorities through a vehicular chase and standoff before being killed.
Shiffer had broadcasted his intentions of breaching the FBI office on the Trump-owned social media site Truth Social, where a large number of individuals affiliated with Trump have expressed their anger at the FBI due to the raid. They have reportedly sent an “unprecedented” amount of threats to the agency due to the Mar-a-Lago raid.
The FBI Security Office has notified the agency’s 38,000 employees to remain vigilant when in FBI facilities as threats against their lives increase due to the scrutiny brought about by the Mar-a-Lago raid.
