Silvia Pinal's funeral promises to be an extraordinary affair, as suggested by early statements from those close to the last great diva of Mexican cinema and local authorities.

The legendary actress died in Mexico City on November 28. About three hours later, her remains were transported in an elegant funeral carriage from Médica Sur Hospital to the J. García López funeral home in Pedregal, located in San Jerónimo, Mexico City.

Mexican media pointed out that the same carriage had previously carried the remains of iconic Mexican singer José José in 2019 and legendary Mexican actor Ignacio López Tarso in 2023.

Before the carriage departed the hospital, some of Pinal's family members were seen leaving the premises, including her youngest daughter, singer-songwriter Alejandra Guzmán, and her great-granddaughter, actress Camila Valero.

What to Expect from Silvia Pinal's Funeral

The services for the celebrated artist, entrepreneur, activist, and politician are began at 9:00 AM (Mexico City time). Floral arrangements started arriving the night before, as tributes, condolences, and messages of mourning poured in on social media.

Along with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum's public condolences, national and local authorities in Mexico have offered the renowned Palacio de Bellas Artes to the Pinal family for a public funeral or a tribute at a later date.

"We've given them space. Everything is still very recent," said Claudia Curiel, Mexico's Secretary of Culture, in an interview with Televisa. She emphasized that the family has their full support and access to their resources.

Tribute to Silvia Pinal at Palacio de Bellas Artes

Shortly afterward, plans for a grand funeral tribute at the Palacio de Bellas Artes were finalized. The announcement was first made by Pinal's assistant, Efigenia Ramos, and later confirmed by the Secretary of Culture on social media.

"The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the INBAL (National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature), in agreement with Silvia Pinal's family, will hold a memorial tribute for the first actress on Saturday, November 30, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City."
