Alison Pill of the HBO series "Newsroom" was all smiles when she explained her technology flub that resulted in a topless picture of her being posted to Twitter. The 27-year-old actress said during her Tuesday appearance on "Conan" that the picture she actually tweeted out to her 14,000 or so followers was the result of not realizing her BlackBerry had a touch screen and trying to send the photo to a friend. "It's a fascinating story involving not knowing that my new BlackBerry had a touch screen and responding to somebody on Twitter like, 'Oh yeah, New York was great, it's 9:30 on a Wednesday, also, apropos of nothing, here are my boobs!'" Pill said when the late-night host asked her about the incident.
The actress later admitted that the photo had originally been taken for her then-fiance Jay Baruchel, but not before joking that all new model BlackBerrys come with the topless shot. Pill almost immediately deleted the tweet once she had realized what she'd done, but the image had already been swiped from her account and is still lingering in some parts of the Internet. The photo depicted the young blonde lying on her bed, bespectacled and, of course, without a shirt. "It was a dumb thing to do, I suppose," she said. "And now I realize just how dumb and so embarrassing, so hideously embarrassing that for about three months after it happened...anytime I met a new person I [kept thinking], 'Boobs! Nice to meet you, you've seen my boobs.' It's not even the case"
