Another sports car, another Nurburgring track record. The highly-anticipated and long-awaited Alfa Romeo 4C has lapped the Nurburgring in just 8:04, making it the quickest production car under 250hp to lap the infamous German race track. What's more, the 4C even beat the time set by the Porsche Cayman S, its 321-hp rival.
The more mechanically modest Alfa Romeo 4C is motivated by a turbocharged 1.75-liter four-cylinder engine producing 240 hp. Thanks to its extraordinarily light weight chassis, the 4C takes full advantage of grip and composure, boasting peak deceleration of 1.2 G as well as lateral loads exceeding 1.1 G. Pirelli P Zero tires designed for the 4C give the Italian pocket rocket the grip necessarily to put down the incredible Nurburgring lap time.
The latest Nurburgring lap record was set by journalist and Norschleife extraordinaire Horst von Saurma on September 12, 2013. The Alfa Romeo 4C Nurburgring lap was allegedly one of the many tests conducted by FIAT to fine-tune the significant vehicle. Other tests include extreme cold and hot weather testing in Sweden, Abu Dhabi and Arizona.
Without further ado, here is the full video clip demonstrating the Alfa Romeo 4C's high abilities around the Nurburgring. Now if only the Italian sports car could make it to market just as quickly...
