Alejandro Monteverde’s father and bother, Juan Manuel Gómez Fernández and Juan Manuel Gómez Monteverde, were kidnapped and held hostage after leaving their home in Tampico, Tamaulipas on September 4. According to reports, their bodies were found in Pueblo Viejo, Veracruz on September 19 with severe head wounds.

None of the Gómez Monteverde family members issued a statement about their tragic loss but “Little Boy” producer and Alejandro’s good friend, Eduardo Verástegui, sent his condolences via Twitter:

“With a heart full of pain and sadness, I ask for prayers for my friend and ‘compadre’ Alejandro Gomez Monteverde and all his family. My deepest condolences to my soul brother, I love you so much ‘compadre,’ I put my heart in your hands and I join you in this deep pain.”

Former Miss USA and Alejandro's wife, Ali Landry, turned to her WhoSay page over the weekend to speak out on the death of her husband’s father and brother for the first time since the incident:

“I want to thank all of you for your love, support and prayers during this time of grief. Yes, the events surrounding my family were tragic and what has happened will profoundly affect our lives forever, but my Father in Law was the kind of man that radiated pure joy and it was infectious. He loved and adored his family more than anything. He was a jokester, a great dancer, a crier (especially when he was talking about his sons), and he lived his life in the present, appreciating each moment as a huge blessing. He was my husband’s hero and like my second Dad. My brother in law was such a hard working business owner. He was an incredible salsa dancer, he was fluent in Japanese and we all looked up to him. When things became dangerous in Tampico a few years ago he moved his family to Estonia, Guadalajara, and then McAllen, Texas just to keep them safe. He was a wonderful friend, an amazing husband, and a great father to his two beautiful children. This is a painful time, and we are still processing it all. What we have realized is that this journey through grief and loss is a marathon, not a sprint, and the only way to get through it is by the grace of God. We are determined not to allow this event to define them or our lives. We want to remember the beauty, the innocence, and the light that they represented, and to continue their legacy and always put family first :) Thank you again for caring for our family!!! Love Ali.”

Landry joined her husband, Alejandro, in Tampico last month where they scattered the ashes of their family members in the ocean in Tampico. We are sending prayers to Ali, Alejandro and the rest of the family, and to many other families that are going through these horrible times of insecurity in Mexico.
