Lately, all we hear is that everything we are eating can kill us. There’s too many chemicals contained in packaged foods, and they use a lot of pesticides in natural foods. No matter what options we are considering to have a healthier, and balanced diet, there is always a BUT. Due to the rapid increase of diseases and obesity in the country, health experts have been trying to allure generations into a new way of eating, in order to diminish these issues among younger generations.

We know that keeping a healthy diet is difficult, especially during spring and summer, when the weather is nicer and all we want to do is be outside BBQ-ing and having drinks with friends. Fortunately, there are experts who are on the same boat, and they offer us reasonable eating habits to keep us healthier, happier, and living longer.

Here are 7 eating habits that will help you live longer:

1) Stop Eating Alone: According to researchers from Brigham Young University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, living alone for too long can shorten your life just as if you were smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

2) Drink Coffee: Yes, it might be dehydrating, but that can be fixed if you drink a lot of water. Studies show that coffee can lower risk of fatal heart disease, and liver cancer. Coffee is also a good source of antioxidants.

3) Have One Drink A Day: Yes, for all you Happy Hour lovers, now there is an excuse for you to join your friends for a drink after work. Studies show that 7 drinks per week decrease the risk of heart failure by 20% for men, and 16% for women.

4) Eat Dark Chocolate: Sorry ladies, it’s not ALL chocolate, but dark chocolate can be quite satisfying and definitely a fix for your sweet tooth. Researchers showed that eating 4 grams of cocoa a day can extend you life period, and its antioxidants also keep your heart healthy.

5) Try Some Cherry Juice: This is probably something not a lot of us do but, cherry juice is high in melatonin, which is the hormone that helps regulate your sleep, in other words, it makes you sleepy. The more rested you are, the better your body feels.

6) Eat 7 Servings A Day: We are talking about fruits and veggies, of course. People have been telling us to eat out fruit and veggies since forever ago. So, it’s never too late to make it a habit.

7) Snack On Nuts: Nuts lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol, which helps blood run better through your veins.

It is important to mention, just like with everything else, these foods need to be consumed with moderation. Keep a balanced diet, and you are ensured to have a healthy, and happy life.
