After an Alaska man threw his brother's pet alligator out into the snow, his brother returned the favor by throwing out the man's pet crocodile, which police said is now believed to be dead.
Alaska State Troopers responded to reports of a disturbance Thursday evening, where they learned that the brothers had gotten into a "physical altercation" following a verbal disagreement "over an anime cartoon," according to a report obtained by Alaska Public Media.
The older brother, 33-year-old Tyler Lowe, reportedly threw the younger brother Rickey Lowe's alligator outside the apartment and into the snow. Rickey, 30, responded by allegedly doing the same thing to Tyler's pet crocodile, as reported by KTUU.
The alligator was able to be rescued and brought back inside to the warmth. However, the crocodile still has not been located, and is now believed to be dead due to the cold weather.
"The temperature was approximately 30 degrees, there was snow and ice on the ground, and both brothers knew it was too cold for the reptiles to survive outside," Sgt. Matthew Sidders wrote in the report, as reported by Anchorage Daily News.
Matt Strickland, Tyler's next-door neighbor, said that he encountered the officials as they searched for the reptiles. "They go, 'Have you seen an alligator run past here?' And I go 'You guys are kidding, right?'" he told KTUU.
Both of the brothers were arrested and were charged with animal cruelty. Tyler was also charged with fourth-degree assault, while Rickey was additionally charged with driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child.
