Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, suspected to be one of Al Qaeda's top operatives and main spokesman, was captured in Jordan earlier this week. According to NBC News, the man who is also Osama bin Laden's son-in-law is currently in federal custody in New York City.
Republican Congressman Peter King of New York, the former chairman of the Homeland Security Committee in the House is looking forward to Ghaith's prosecution.
"I trust he received a vigorous interrogation, and will face swift and certain justice," King said.
A Turkish newspaper reported Ghaith was on his way to Kuwait when counterterrorism authorities caught up to him before he reached the Arab nation. King says his capture is another step in the systematic disassembling of al-Qaeda and praised the Obama administration and allied forces worldwide for the actions that led to Ghaith's arrest.
Ghaith was first known for demanding that the Kuwaiti royal family denounce the country's constitution and institute Sharia law in the early 1990s. He met his future father-in-law, Osama bin Laden, in Afghanistan in 2000.
