X users are calling out a double standard after Democratic Rep. Al Green was removed from President Donald Trump's address to Congress for protesting, while past Republican lawmakers who interrupted former President Joe Biden were allowed to stay.

In 2009, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) famously shouted "You lie!" at President Barack Obama, and in 2022, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) repeatedly interrupted Biden's State of the Union address, the New York Times reported.

None of them were removed from the chamber. However, on Tuesday, Green (D-TX) was forcibly ejected from Trump's address after loudly protesting Medicaid cuts, an incident that has sparked accusations of unfair treatment.

During Trump's speech, Green stood up, shook his cane, and shouted, "You have no mandate to cut Medicaid!"

His Republican colleagues drowned him out with chants of "U.S.A.!" as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) warned him to sit down. When Green refused, Vice President JD Vance signaled for his removal.

X users were quick to notice, as a flurry of posts pointing out Boebert and Greene's outbursts during Biden's State of the Union speech went viral, with some calling it "the double standard."

"I'm old enough to remember when Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Green were not kicked out during the State of the Union," one user commented. "The double standard!"

"Marjorie Taylor Greene got patience [and] grace for opposing Biden. Al Green got removed [and] silenced for opposing Trump," another wrote.

"I can't believe they allowed Al [Green] to be thrown out after NOBODY DID A THING ABOUT THIS!" one user wrote, referring to Greene's 2022 outburst.

Green later told reporters he believed his actions were justified, stating, "It was worth it to let people know that some will stand up to the president."
