“Agents Of SHIELD” characters Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez and Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie are potentially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the end of the ABC series. Actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley, who plays Yo-Yo, revealed that their characters might also get guest spots on Gabriel Luna’s “Ghost Rider” series on Hulu.`
“Agents Of SHIELD” may be ending soon, but that doesn’t mean that fans will not see their favorite agents ever again. In a recent interview, stars Cordova-Buckley and Henry Simmons, who plays Mack in the series, teased the possibility of their characters appearing in a future spinoff series and returning to the MCU.
Asked if their characters could reappear in the MCU, Cordova-Buckley said that her hopes are high. Simmons then floated the idea of a spinoff, which already happened to fellow star Gabriel Luna when he got his own “Ghost Rider” series.
According to Cordova-Buckley, the idea of “SHIELD” characters appearing on Luna’s Hulu show is highly likely. “I would love that,” she said. “I love Gabe. I think he deserves that.”
The actress went on to say that she would love to reunite with Luna and the other “SHIELD” characters in the future, whether as Yo-Yo or another character. “As an actor, he’s done so much in the past,” she said.
“Before we even did ‘Agents of SHIELD,’ he was worthy of getting the role. He’s on top of it, a great human being, and that’s always really something that I’m grateful for — to see people go up in power and platform that are actually good human beings. So I would love to go and do it. Whether it’d be Yo-Yo or another character, I’d work with him and the team again,” she added.
As for Simmons, he doesn’t care whether it’s “Ghost Rider” or not as long as he gets to work with his other costars again. “Look, I love Gabe,” he said. “I think Gabe is a great human being, like Natalia said, and I think that he deserved ‘Ghost Rider.’ I think that it should have happened a long time ago. But honestly, I would just like to work with him again in any capacity. I don’t care if it’s ‘Ghost Rider’ or anything else,” he added.
Prior to the interview, showrunner Jed Whedon already welcomed the possibility of the “Agents Of SHIELD” characters reappearing in the MCU at some point. “Anything could happen,” he said at the Comic-Con panel for the series.
