In a series of disturbing videos shared online, a woman was seen coldheartedly torturing her 18-month-old son. The woman reportedly abused her son after arguments with her husband. Police have taken her into custody after the video of the abuse went viral.
The toddler identified as Pradeep was regularly beaten by his mother while they lived in the Gingee district of Tamil Nadu, India. The mother reportedly lived with the abused toddler and his three-year-old sibling while their father was working in the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. She recorded the torture of the younger child whenever she had a fight with her husband.
According to Indian Express, the distraught father 37-year-old Vadivazhagan discovered the videos on Saturday, Aug. 28. He found the videos on his wife, 22-year-old Thulasi’s phone. He believes that the videos were recorded in February. He recalled that the child had injuries to his face and legs in the same month for which he needed medical attention.
Three of the videos making rounds on WhatsApp show the mother torturing the toddler in various ways. In one of the videos, she can be seen blankly staring at the camera as she punched the toddler’s face. She kept punching him till he started bleeding from his mouth. She even took the phone close to the crying child’s face to record the bleeding.
In another video, the woman can be seen hitting the child’s foot. She then beat the child with footwear, APN reported. In a third video, the woman is seen displaying scars on the child’s back indicating that he had been flogged. It is believed that the mother had a difficult childbirth experience with the younger child so she took out her rage on him.
Vadivazhagan claims that his wife abused the child after he asked her to stop talking to a man. With her extra-marital affair foiled she lashed out at the child.
The couple had been separated for some time. The children were with the father while the woman had returned to Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh where her parents live. After the husband filed a complaint, she was booked under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonor person) of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 75 (abusing a child) of the Juvenile Justice Act.
A special task force from Tamil Nadu arrested the woman. She will be presented in court on Monday, Sept. 6.
