Adonis Losada, most well known for playing "Doña Concha" on Sabado Gigante, is facing 66 charges of child pornography. The Univision actor has faced similar charges before: in 2009, the Cuban-born actor was arrested after an undercover agent posing as a child in a chat room engaged him in a conversation on a site for people looking to have sex with children. Losada spent two years in prison despite claiming he was innocent and demanding justice.
Adonis Losada, 49, is on trial but is offering no defense and refused legal representation. "It's not my wish to be here," said Losada through an interpreter to Circuit Judge Karen Miller. "I don't want to participate," he said, explaining he did not want to testify or undergo cross-examination "Send me the verdict and all that information." However, Miller ruled that Losada was mentally competent to stand trial and said he would be required to stand trial. "It's better if you are present," Miller said. "It's your day in court."
Losada faces a minimum 44 years in state prison and a maximum of 330 years if convicted. Losada also declined the state's offer to plead guilty in exchange for a 20 year sentence, which would run concurrently with his pending trial in Miami Dade on similar child pornography charges. "I'd like the record to be clear: I am here against my wishes," said Losada, again speaking through his interpreter. The trial is set to continue Friday with Det. Ramos still on the witness stand. Prosecutors plan to rest their case on Monday.
