Months after Adele publicly announced to fans that she would quit drinking in the aftermath of her divorce to Simon Konecki, the British songstress was spotted dancing the night away and “drinking like a fish” at a London club.
In November, the “Easy On Me” hitmaker, 33, candidly told television host Oprah Winfrey about her excessive consumption of alcohol during the fallout of her marriage with Konecki, the father of her son Angelo, 8.
She then confessed that the end of the relationship saw her running into nightclubs in Los Angeles to escape the lonely nights.
In that famed interview with Oprah, Adele said per The News International, “Once I realized that I had a lot of work to do on myself, I stopped drinking, and I started working out lots and stuff like that to keep me centered.”
A month earlier in October, the Grammy award-winning singer also revealed in an impromptu Instagram Live that she had to give up drinking alcohol to protect her voice ahead of the release of her new single “Easy On Me,” which dropped on Oct. 15.
“Aperol spritz, I love that. Although ‘cos I’m gearing up to come back. I’m having to cut out my drinking,” she said at the time.
However, earlier this month, following the success of her comeback album, “30,” the “Remedy” singer reportedly got high on booze. At one point, she fell over backward after having too much to drink, according to a tipster.
“One minute she was laughing, and the next she was crying,” another onlooker spilled.
Interestingly enough, Adele opened up about her “close” relationship with alcohol in a previous interview with Vogue, saying, “I was always very fascinated by alcohol. It’s what kept my dad from me. So I always wanted to know what was so great about it.”
According to the Independent, Adele had a rough relationship with her father, Mark Evans, who died of cancer in May. The patriarch left their family soon after the singer’s mother, Penny Adkins, gave birth to Adele.
Meanwhile, the British star said her divorce and its impact on her relationship with her son Angelo humanized her parents for her, big time.
“I went to hell and back! And in that I found the peace to forgive him (Mark). He was ready to go and he lasted a long time with it. So thank you,” she continued per the Daily Mail.
