Addicted Son Beats Mother To Death With Stick After She Refused To Pay For His Drugs

A man beat his elderly mother to death with a stick after she refused to give him money to buy drugs.

The victim, 60-year-old Bhinder Kaur was murdered in the wee hours of Monday, Oct. 8, at her home in India.

The victim’s elder son, 38-year-old Jagjivan Singh alias Jaggi has been booked by the police after her younger son, Dalbir Singh filed a complaint against his brother accusing him of murdering their mother.

Samrala SHO inspector Kulwant Singh said the accused, who is a drug addict, used to frequently pick up fights with his mother after he comes home in an intoxicated state.

He used to beat her whenever she refused to give him money to buy drugs, the officer said.

Villagers told police that at about 4:30 a.m. on Monday, they heard loud noises from the victim’s home but did not pay much attention as it was a daily affair.

“My unemployed elder brother used to harass our mother for the money. In the wee hours of Monday, he demanded money, and when she refused, he thrashed her to death with sticks and fled,” Dalbir said, the Hindustan Times reported.

The SHO added that when they investigated the crime scene, they recovered a blood-stained stick near the body and that other circumstantial evidence suggested murder.

Police said the victim’s husband, an alcoholic, had not returned home since Saturday.

The accused man’s drug addiction also cost him his marriage. The man’s wife had left him two years ago and had since been living at her maternal home with their two daughters, police said.

Jaggi was arrested and charged with the murder of his mother. A further probe is underway, police said.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a drug and alcohol addict raped his own mother at knifepoint after threatening to slit her throat if she did not comply with his demand.

On Thursday night, Nov. 4, the young suspect, who has not been publicly identified, came to his home in the slums of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, India, in an inebriated state and launched an attack on his mother.

When the woman objected to her son's “despicable act”, the suspect pulled out a knife and put it on her neck, and allegedly threatened to kill her if she does not surrender to him, police said on Saturday.

As the helpless mother kept resisting her son's advances, the suspect increased the pressure on the knife's blade and repeated his threats, City Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Singh said.

The accused then raped his mother.

Following the incident, the devastated mother approached the police and filed a complaint against her son.

Based on the woman’s complaint, police arrested the young suspect on Friday. The mother was sent for a medical examination, police said.

“My husband lives in Rampur district and he is also on drugs. He never gives money to run the house. I worked as domestic help and nurtured my four children. I never thought that my son will rape me,” the woman told the police.
