Australian actor Sam Worthington was arrested Saturday night on a charge of disorderly conduct in Atlanta.
The actor was allegedly involved in a drunken scuffle. The "Avatar" star was turned away from the Vortex Bar and Grill as he didn't have proper identification and was also found to be intoxicated, TMZ reported. Worthington then got involved in a brawl with the bouncer and was finally pepper-sprayed.
According to the bouncer, Jerry Link, Worthington approached him in a dirty hoodie, carrying a bundle of clothes. The actor was reportedly so unkempt and drunk that onlookers thought he was a homeless man.
When Link denied the 36-year-old actor entry to the bar, TMZ reports, Worthington yelled, "I'm a DEA agent!" The actor may have got carried away and believed he was still in character playing a Drug Enforcement Administration special agent from his movie "Ten ".
The actor was slapped with charges of disorderly conduct and was handcuffed and arrested as soon as the police arrived. However, the charges against Worthington were withdrawn on Monday when the complaining witness failed to appear in court. According to TMZ, Link said that no one ever told him he needed to show up in court and that he was unaware Worthington was a Hollywood actor.
