Jeremy Renner is undoubtedly one of the high-profile actors many will recognize. He has appeared in several big flicks such as “The Avengers,” “Mission Impossible” and “The Bourne Legacy.”
But as most know, the 52-year-old actor suffered an accident on New Year’s Day, getting run over by a snow plow near his home in Reno, Nevada. He had to be airlifted to a hospital after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries according to his representatives.
Renner already underwent surgery and remains in the hospital where he is recovering. Initially, it appears he is recovering well although the real question is when will he be back up on his feet and get back to his normal life.
According to the latest updates from a source, the “Hawkeye” star may take years before he makes a full recovery.
“It’s much worse than anyone knows,” the source said. “Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there.”
At the time, Renner was helping a stranded motorist by trying to clear the snow when a Kässbohrer PistenBully snowplow began rolling on its own. The actor tried to hop on board to stop it but ended up getting run over instead.
Hence, the Oscar nominee suffered “extreme difficulty” breathing and was bleeding heavily from his head. The right side of his chest collapsed as his upper torso was crushed by the vehicle.
“Word is the damage to Jeremy’s chest was so substantial, it had to be reconstructed in surgery,” the source added.
It may take at least two years for Renner to make full recovery.
“So far, he’s had two surgeries and he will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg,” the source said. “Doctors tend to space out operations to allow time for the body’s natural healing process to kick in, and that’s the case here.”
