Technology enthusiasts who are anxious to see what hardware Google will reveal at its October 4 event are just as curious about the search engine guru’s software. Amid rumors that Google is kicking its old Nexus brand to the curb and replacing it with Pixel, it’s only natural for the Nexus Launcher to get replaced as well. As Android Authority reports, popular third party launcher app, Action Launcher 3, offers a hands-on preview of the accompanying user interface that can we expect to see in Google’s soon-to-be-released Android 7.1 Nougat software.
Action Launcher 3, version 3.10.0, is available as a free download from the Google Play store. It’s packed with a gang of new Android 7.1 Nougat features for you to chew on, one of which is Quickcuts, a replica of Android 7.1’s new launcher that adds shortcuts to your existing Android device icons.
Select system icons such as Gmail and Twitter both display a shortcut to composing a new email or tweet, respectively.
Play around with the Action Launcher 3’s settings and you’ll discover other functions that put system customizations right at your fingertips. Choose the Pixel Launcher icon pack option to change your phone’s icons to that of Android 7.1’s own circular style theme.
The new Action Launcher 3 app update also lets you add a Google “Pill” All Apps, Quickdrawer side panel and date widgets to you screen. Along with some of Android 7.1 Nougat’s most exciting new features, the Action Launcher 3 also lets you choose from two pixel launcher inspired folder types and add a tinted dock background and caret page indicator.
Why wait for Android Nougat 7.1 to get a taste of what the Pixel Launcher is all about? Download and install Action Launcher 3 now to Pixel-fy your current Android device.
