Police in Pennsylvania have tracked down and rescued an alleged sexual assault victim reportedly held captive and sexually abused for months after she left a trail of handwritten pleas for help in public bathrooms, authorities revealed on Thursday.

The suspect, Corey Brewer, 38, of Pittsburgh, faces a slew of criminal charges, including involuntary deviate sexual assault, sexual assault, unlawful restraint, strangulation, simple assault, and making terroristic threats, Law&Crime reported.

It comes after two notes were discovered in the restrooms of a Walmart in Carnegie and Fallingwater Museum in Mill Run, alleging that he was holding a woman captive and had been abusing her for months.

In the first note retrieved on July 8, the alleged victim claimed to have been sexually and physically assaulted by her captor Brewer, who was reportedly armed with a knife. The woman also left an address where she's being held against her will, attaching a description of a car with it. She then told whoever gets a hold of her note to call 911 to rescue her.

The first cry for help was found stuck to a mirror in the women's bathroom of a Walmart in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, outside Pittsburgh, according to ABC News.

On July 9, Scott Township Police officers went to the address indicated in the retrieved note. Their knocks were left unanswered despite hearing noises of furniture being moved around inside.

Authorities proceeded to call Brewer's number and asked to speak to the victim privately. The suspect allegedly allowed police to speak with the woman on speakerphone, during which Brewer told the officers they were on vacation in New York. At the time, the victim confirmed she was with her boyfriend.

Two days later, on Saturday, police were alerted to a second note found at the women's restroom of Frank Lloyd Wright museum in Mill Run. The note indicated that the woman had been held captive since May 1 and that Brewer had threatened to kill her and her family if she attempted to flee, Fox News noted.

"If I don’t make it, tell my family I love them," a part of the note reads.

Authorities confirmed the two had been at the museum following a review of its surveillance system. They then got in touch with the alleged victim's former partner, who had not seen her since the end of April. He said they were in the process of officially reporting her disappearance.

Police also heard that the alleged victim and the suspect were in a relationship but that the woman filed a protection from abuse order against Brewer in August 2020, which expired a month later.

On Sunday, authorities executed a search warrant, raiding the home they initially visited. They moved to rescue the alleged victim, leading to Brewer's subsequent arrest.

During an interview with police, the woman claimed that Brewer confiscated her phone and she wasn't able to return home since May 1. She said she was sexually assaulted, punched, and strangled numerous times. On one occasion, he allegedly intentionally wounded her foot with a knife so she would abandon attempts to escape.

The suspect then ultimately threatened to kill her and her children if she tried to leave him. It's further alleged that Brewer took nude photos of the woman without consent.

Brewer was released from the Allegheny County Jail on Monday after posting $500 in cash. He did not have a legal representative as of Tuesday afternoon and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 22.
