Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was supposed to appear in court Wednesday for a probable cause hearing, but after prosecutors asked for an extended period of time to build their case, the judge overseeing the meeting rescheduled the hearing for August 22.
Hernandez appeared in court on Wednesday for the first time since June 28 when he appealed a no bail ruling that was enforced by a judge at his June 26 arraignment.

The former University of Florida standout was arrested in the early morning hours of June 26 for his connection in the death of former semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd. Shortly after being placed in handcuffs and taken from his home by Massachusetts police officers, the 23-year-old was arraigned and charged with murder along with five gun-related counts.
Lloyd was shot five times and his body was discovered on June 17 in a park not far from the former NFL star's home in North Attleborough, Massachusetts. After gathering enough evidence to connect Hernandez to the death of the 27-year-old in some capacity, police were able to take the Connecticut native into custody.
The recent delay in the probable cause hearing did not sit well with Hernandez's attorney James Sultan, who stated his objection to the delay by saying his client has already been sitting in a jail cell for four weeks waiting for this day.

In addition to postponing the hearing until late August, one new piece of evidence was revealed by the prosecution that certainly seems to tie Aaron Hernandez to the murder of Odin Lloyd.
The prosecution disclosed to the court room that Hernandez's fingerprints were identified on ammunition that matched the caliber of the weapon used in the murder of Lloyd. According to The Courant, investigators initially found the weapon at an apartment Hernandez was leasing in Massachusetts.
Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz are also being charged in the case with Wallace facing accessory after the fact to murder and Ortiz looking at a charge of illegal possession of a firearm.
