8 Dead Bodies Discovered In Mexican State Of Sonora

Mexican authorities in Mexico's norhtern state of Sonora have found eight dead bodies buried in two hidden pits along a dirt road near the city of Navojoa. The state police said that the bodies were found in kilometre 2 on the dirt road that connects the Mexico-US highway with the township of Navomora. Elements of the State and Federal police forces investigated the site in which the eight bodies were found.

Forces from the State Attorney General's Office (PGJE) secured the site and then began the macabre operation of uncovering, removing and identifying the human remains found there. Initial tests on the victims confirm that six of the bodies were male and two female: one of the female victims was under legal age. The medical team investigating the case stated that the bodies could have been buried over a year ago.

The trend of grisly discoveries in Mexico sadly continues: just last week, Latin Times reported that almost 20 dead bodies were found in the state of Jalisco. The area in northern Mexico is home to the Knights Templar, one of Mexico's most powerful drug gangs.
