Seventy-eight lottery players who played the Cash 4 draw-style game with the combination of 6-6-6-6 won big prizes for the drawing held on Feb. 3. Meanwhile, a couple who have been playing the same digits for the past two decades finally bagged an astounding $1.9 million lottery prize.
Seventy-eight lottery players are set to take home a total of $320,000 for betting on the winning combination in the Feb. 3 drawing of Mississippi Lottery's Cash 4 draw-style game. All 78 players had played the combination of 6-6-6-6, the Sacramento Bee reported.
In the drawing, 50 prize-winning $1 tickets netted $5,000 each and 28 50-cent tickets won $2,500 each. The Cash 4 game was debuted just this Jan. 10 and has drawings held every day. The cost to play the game ranges from $0.50 to $24.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a couple who have reportedly been playing the same digits for the past two decades recently finally took home a massive $1.9 million lottery prize, LADbible reported.
The couple, two disability workers who hail from Western Australia, said that they had initially considered changing their tried and true number selections after failing to win a lottery for the past 22 years.
"We've been playing the same numbers for 22 years and we were thinking of retiring the numbers at the start of the year because we hadn't had much success," one of the winners said. "We are so glad we didn't."
The couple who took home $1.9 million from the state's lotto pool is currently preparing for retirement.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a North Carolina veteran who played the lucky numbers from his fortune cookie reportedly won a massive $4-million lottery prize from the Mega Millions Lottery draw held on Jan. 18, Latin Times reported.
The winner, identified as Gabriel Fierro, 60, a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, of Cornelius, North Carolina, matched all five white balls for the Jan. 18 draw and won a $4 million Mega Millions lottery prize by playing the lucky numbers from his fortune cookie.
Fierro, who dines weekly with his wife at Charlotte’s Red Bowl Asian Bistro, decided “on a whim” to play the lucky numbers from his fortune cookie in the drawing held on Jan. 18. The ticket ended up matching five numbers in the draw and won a $1 million prize. However, since he had chosen a 4X Megaplier, his winnings quadrupled and he bagged a total prize of $4 million.
Fierro collected his prize amount on Jan 20 and took home $2.8 million after federal and state tax withholdings.
