A Louisiana mother is furious after her 6-year-old daughter, repeatedly denied bathroom breaks, was allegedly forced to clean herself barehanded after defecating in class.

Jamisha Augustine, the child's mother, said she had informed Rollins Place Elementary about her daughter's dairy allergy at the start of the school year and even provided medical documentation.

Despite this information, she was allowed to drink milk at breakfast, triggering tummy issues. When the girl asked to use the bathroom, her teacher refused.

"She asked her teacher to go to the restroom, but she said no because she went too many times," Augustine said per local news. "So, upon her going to the office after having an accident, the principal told her she was too big to be having accidents on herself."

Augustine was livid when she learned her daughter was forced to clean up the mess herself.

"I said what was the point of making her clean that up?" she recalled asking a school administrator. "Do y'all have janitors?" The administrator allegedly responded that while janitors were available, the child needed "a form of discipline" and that "there are consequences behind the things that she does."

"You send a janitor in with the proper equipment," Augustine said. "But a six-year-old kid—you are going to make them clean up poop without gloves? It's disgraceful and should not have gone on in our school."

"You learn from mistakes. You take ownership, accept them, and try to do what's right by the child and parent," Zachary Community Schools Superintendent Ben Necaise said. "We do have safety precautions that we have to abide by, and again a child should never be put in that situation to have to deal with that."

He said staff members have retrained to ensure this never happens again.

Augustine, however, feels an apology is not enough: "It should not have happened."
