Two men have confessed to raping a six-year-old girl after she was found to have a sexually transmitted disease at a hospital in 2018.
The two men who admitted to raping the minor were identified as Demarcus George and Mario Waters, both from Arkansas. The two individuals pleaded guilty to rape and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor during a federal court hearing in Little Rock last week according to prosecutors.
The plea will cancel their scheduled upcoming jury trial. It will also spare the 6-year-old victim from having to testify against them.
It was in February 2018 when attending physicians noticed the child suffering from symptoms of STI at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The girl later told the FBI that the two men raped her in a hotel room.
Blood and urine samples taken from the two men showed that both tested positive for STIs that the little girl had contracted.
Further, investigators were also able to locate the hotel in Little Rock where the rape took place. They based it on the description of the child that included a curtain being in the middle of the room and a specific picture that was hanging on the wall.
It was also found that the mother of the girl had paid for the said room using a credit card in March 2018. She has since lost custody of the 6-year-old girl.
“The unspeakable crimes committed against this child remind us how vitally important it is to have law enforcement officers willing to investigate and put a stop to these horrific actions,” acting US Attorney Jonathan D. Ross said in a statement.
“These guilty pleas will spare the young victim from having to relive her experience on the witness stand at a trial,” he added.
George and Waters are facing up to life in prison. Their sentencing date has yet to be announced.
