“The Blacklist” is back on its second season and we have so many questions from season one which need answers! Let’s start with a brief recap of season one: Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington surrenders himself to the F.B.I. after a long criminal career where he accumulated a list of acquaintances and enemies who are planning major crimes. Enter the blacklist. Now, we know very little about Red’s past but the show has made us feel like we’re piecing it together slowly. Reddington’s one request is that he speaks only to criminal psychologist, Liz Keen. Liz takes on the job and tries hard to balance her life with her dream, schoolteacher husband, Tom who turns out to be not so dreamy and in fact, a spy/killer.
Berlin isn’t a place: Now that Berlin narrowly escaped Liz (unlike one of his hands) he’s apparently realized how the job isn’t going to be easy and brought in reinforcements. By which I mean Lord Baltimore, who apparently jumps at the chance to avenge ‘Red’ did to his daughter (add to list of questions.) Now that they’ve seen what Liz means to Reddington, they are targeting her, of course.
Is Raymond Reddington Elizabeth Keen’s father: Not only are the implications endless from the very beginning, but after discussing with fellow Blacklist fans, we’ve decided it would be utterly creepy if he weren’t Liz’s father. Producers have in fact said that the answer to this question will not come in the season premiere or “any time soon” and actor James Spader said to “focus on their current relationship and not the past.” We just hope they don’t stretch it out “How I Met Your Mother” style to the point where we no longer care.
What’s up with Tom? Yes, Liz did see him die before her very own eyes after he dropped the father bomb, but there’s been some speculation that he might not be dead. While we wouldn’t be surprised if he returns from the dead, we wouldn’t mind if he didn’t.
Fresh faces: it’s always refreshing to see new characters join a show’s ensemble, so we’re excited to see Krysten Ritter play Chloe, a data security analyst who will help Liz out and, of course Mary Louise-Parker playing Naomi Highland, a future ally for Red, will surely not disappoint.
Are Liz Keen and Donald Ressler… Ok, it seems like there’s already too much on our plates to decipher, but wouldn’t it be nice if Tom came back from the dead regretful, only to find his beloved wife in bed with hot F.B.I. agent Donald Ressler? Just a thought.
