The mystery behind the death of a 32-year-old pregnant mother gained some clarity after the perpetrator, her estranged husband was arrested. A diary containing notes penned by the woman was found, leading to the apprehension.
The woman, identified as Amber Guichelaar, was found dead by police in her bedroom in Michigan. Arrested in connection with the woman’s death was 36-year-old Richard Guichelaar.
Amber, who was a much-loved teacher, appeared to have predicted her fate. She penned several passages in a diary, something found in her car according to an affidavit obtained by Wood-TV.
“He is dangerous… I have literally thought to myself, am I safe…asleep next to him? Would he ever kill me?” one of the entries read.
There was also a painted picture showing an aggressive man who subjected his wife to vile outbursts, including physical violence.
Aside from that, there were also notes revealing how the 36-year-old accused would lash out in a fit of rage, threw mugs at the TV, and punched the walls of their home located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
With the facts narrated in the diary, was enough to place Richard Guichelaar behind bars. He will serve a minimum of 33 years for second-degree murder and intentionally assaulting a pregnant woman.
A judge also warned that the 36-year-old man was a danger to society after piecing together the events contained in the diary.
It was on the wee hours of Nov. 16, 2020 when Richard Guichelaar reported to authorities that his wife lay lifeless. The man claimed at the time that Amber had accidentally strangled herself. However, an autopsy revealed that the 32-year-old woman had died from asphyxiation and that Amber could not have done it alone.
Amber and Richard have two daughters aged two and eight months who were on the premises at the time. Given their ages, it was only Richard Guichelaar who would have been capable of causing the injuries.
The children of the couple are now under the care of Amber’s sister. A GoFundMe account has been set up to support the two young kids.
