Detectives confirmed that they are now treating the disappearance of a former Polish professional footballer, Kamil Biecke as a murder. Biecke was last seen three years ago on Shaftesbury Road in Luton, the morning of Dec. 8, 2018.
His estranged wife reported the 34-year-old footballer missing six days after his disappearance.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit officially revealed in 2019 that his disappearance is being treated as a murder. They added that further inquiries were made last month at an address in Bedfordshire, and the investigation is ongoing. It was last year when police were seen digging in the back garden of a house in Shaftesbury Road as part of their investigation.
The investigators once claimed that his gambling associations might have led to him being killed and they also believed he had been involved in drug-related activity. Biecke also had links to Cambridgeshire, Milton Keynes and Scotland.
An appeal in 2019 urged people who knew him from Luton-based casinos or betting shops to come forward. "We still strongly believe the answers lay within our local community and we urge anyone to come forward if they have any information," said Detective Inspector Lee Martin.
He is leading the investigation of Kamil. He urged anyone to come forward if they have any information about the case. He expressed his determination not to give up until truth prevailed. "We are issuing this further appeal for any information at all which will help us understand what happened to Kamil on that day in December 2018, or the days leading up to his disappearance." he continued.
"Any information reported to us will be treated with the utmost confidence. If you know something, please come forward, even the smallest piece of information can help with our investigation."
The years on from the date he went missing, police are filing a further appeal for information about Biecke, who they now think may have been murdered. Authorities encouraged anyone who has any information to report it as soon as possible. However small or seemingly irrelevant, all details can be used to help police build up a picture of the case.
Polish-born Kamil last played for Baltyk Gdynia in his home country in 2013. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2016.
