A 31-year-old man has reportedly been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a student at a school where he used to teach.
The suspect was identified as Te Bin Jung who was arrested on Jan. 10 after the mother of a 17-year-old student reported the alleged assault the day before.
The 31-year-old is reportedly an English teacher at Yerba Buena High School and allegedly assaulted the young victim who was a student at the Silver Creek High School, when he was working there.
"The reporting party, who is the victim's mother, told Officers that she located inappropriate messages on her daughter's phone from her former teacher," police noted in a press release.
Bin Jung was arrested at his residence at his home in San Jose and was subsequently booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. He is facing one charge of sexual assault of a minor. It was added that the 31-year-old was released not long after.
Authorities are looking into the possibility that there could be more victims. Detectives are encouraging those with information about this incident or anything similar to come forward and contact Detective Camarillo #4576 of the SJPD's ICAC/CED Task Force at 4576@sanjoseca.gov or call (408) 277-3214.
This comes not long after a former math teacher at the Phillips Exeter Academy pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student in 2016, WMUR reported.
Identified as Szczesny Kaminski, the ex-teacher pleaded guilty to several counts of aggravated sexual assault before the Rockingham Superior Court.
The victim claims that she was in a vulnerable state at the time when Kaminski took advantage of her at a new place away from home.
The unnamed victim said that Kaminsky had filled a void while she was away with loved ones at the time, helping her with homework as she struggled with the intense workload and offering words of encouragement.
This changed over time with Kaminsky and the victim alleged that she was not aware that she was already experiencing sexual abuse. It was only after counseling that she realized that she was suffering from abuse.
