Police arrested 25-year-old Saki Sudo from Tokyo’s Shinagawa Ward and transferred her to Wakayama Prefecture on Wednesday, April 28.
The young woman was arrested as she is suspected to have poisoned her 77-year-old husband, Kosuke Nozaki on May 24, 2018. The couple had been married for only three months when the millionaire was found dead in his home.
Three years ago, Nozaki was found dead in Tanabe, Wakayama Prefecture. Post mortem examination revealed that he had traces of an illegal stimulant drug in his system. However, there were no needle marks that could establish that he had administered the drugs himself. This suspicious circumstance led to the police launching a murder investigation.
The police believe that the young woman who Nozaki married just months before his death had been responsible for the murder. Sudo is believed to have searched online for the drug before acquiring it, the New York Post reported. Once she had the drugs, she administered them to her husband leading to his death.
The will left behind by the millionaire leaves his $12million worth of property to the city of Tanabe. Despite the will, as his legal heir, Sudo would still receive a part of the wealth he made as to the president of a liquor sales company and from his real estate business. Nozaki’s family has filed a case to challenge the will. They claim that Nozaki has not made it, Japan Times reported.
The controversial man had dubbed himself ‘Don Juan’. In 2016 he had released an autobiography titled ‘Don Juan of Kishu: The Man Who Gave ¥3 Billion($27million) to 4,000 Beautiful Women’. The same year there were reports that his then-girlfriend, a model in her 20s, was arrested for stealing money and jewelry worth millions from the self-proclaimed playboy.
Nozaki published another autobiography in 2018. In the second autobiography, he is believed to have written how Sudo came into his life. The book describes how a woman helped him when he fell down at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in 2017.
After having a relationship with Nozaki, Sudo did not reveal it to her family. She told her family that she was helping a friend with their real estate business. While she lived a luxurious life, she claimed that she earned her lifestyle by trading in stocks. Even after she married Nozaki, she reportedly did not tell her family that she had tied the knot.
Police have not revealed if Sudo has confessed to the crime.
