A 25-year-old man's unusual romantic gesture landed him in trouble. The man from Nagaland, India used a pistol to impress his girlfriend. But his neighbors didn't find it impressive at all and got him arrested.
The incident happened in Padumpukhuri area of Dimapur town in Nagaland on Tuesday evening. The youngster, identified as Torin Tikhir, had borrowed a .22 caliber pistol from a person, reported India Today.
He got arrested by the Dimapur Police who recovered the pistol along with three rounds of live cartridges. “A case has been registered at East Police Station of Dimapur in connection with the incident,” a police officer said.
Dimapur Police also informed the public by tweeting, “He chose the gun instead of a rose to woo his girlfriend but the neighborhood was least impressed with the gunslinging Romeo. One person arrested for illegal possession of a .22 caliber pistol from Padumpukhuri area. Case registered in East PS.”
Dimapur Police spokesman Relo T Aye said that the man, who is a truck driver, wielded the gun after having an argument with his lover, reported New Indian Express. “He had an argument with his girlfriend, so he came with a pistol and started the drama saying that he will shoot himself if she does not patch up. We arrested him after being alerted by the locals,” Aye said.
He said that the pistol was not licensed. “We are investigating how the friend of the accused managed to get hold of the gun. We will take action against him as well,” the police spokesman added.
In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday by the Bibvewadi police for cheating multiple women by marrying them after posing as an army officer, reported The Times Of India. Yogesh Dattu Gaikwad, a resident of Kannad taluka in Aurangabad, took a lot of money from at least 20 youngsters by promising them jobs in the Indian Army, police said. Police have also arrested his accomplice, Sanjay Shinde of Ahmednagar, who acted as his bouncer.
On June 21, a woman from Bibvewadi registered a complaint against Gaikwad. “Gaikwad has married four women -- two from Pune city and one each from Amravati and Aurangabad. Two of these marriages were held at dharmashalas in Alandi and two others in temples, but none of these marriages were registered. At the same time, our preliminary investigation revealed that Gaikwad was dating 53 women. We will record statements of all those women who approach us," said senior inspector Sunil Zavare.
