According to speculation, the ultimate expression of the naturally aspirated Porsche 911 will be turbocharged. Now, a leaked image of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the form of a scale model seems to further support the wild rumor.
Earlier this year, Porsche CEO Matthais Muller announced that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be delayed due to related technical issues that prompted a major GT3 fire risk recall that required all-new engines for all affected GT3 models. Now that the issue seems to be resolved, the GT3 RS is slated to push the performance envelope.
The red scale model has all the fixings of a hardcore Porsche 911 GT3 RS, including aggressive aero treatments, flared fenders, wider track, and a massive GT wing. Finally, a gaping Porsche 911 Turbo-style air duct just before the rear wheels is the first telltale sign that the power unit inside the upcoming 911 GT3 RS is going to be something extra special.
There is no word on power figure for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but we expect the turbocharged 3.8 liter flat-six engine to produce approximately 520 horsepower. Depending on the gearbox and the tire setup, the GT3 RS should be capable of putting down consistent 0-60 launches in less than 3.5 seconds and a top speed exceeding 200 mph.
