The 2015 Boston Marathon begins Monday April 20, at 9:00 a.m. ET. The most prestigious road running race will be broadcasted live via WBZ-TV or CBS Boston. Running enthusiasts that wish to watch the 2015 Boston Marathon live stream online can visit the official CBS Boston website.
The race begins from Main Street in Hopkinton and will follow a 26.2 mile route through Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, and Brookline before finally reaching the finish at John Hancock Tower's Copley Square. A total of 30,000 runners are expected to race this year's 2015 Boston Marathon.
In the 2014 Boston Marathon, Meb Keflezighi became the first American man in 31 years to win the race. For 2015, Keflezighi intends to defend the title and win again.
“Last year, nobody had good chances for me to win,” Keflezighi said according to NBC Sports. “I think the chances are higher, at least according to others, this year than it was last year.”
Contenders that will give Keflezighi a run for his money include Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia. What's more, Desisa's odds are further bolstered by the absence of Kenyan favorites this year, including Dennis Kimetto, Emmanuel Mutai, and Wilson Kipsang. The three runners from Kenya will not be participating in Boston this year.
Another Kenyan that will not be participating in the 2015 Boston Marathon is last year's champion Rita Jeptoo, who has been banned for two years after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug.
Now, Ethiopia runners Mare Dibaba and Buzunesh Deba are favored to be the quickest women this year.
