The all-new 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 finally broke cover Monday afternoon, March 4, ahead of the highly anticipated 2013 Geneva Motor Show debut.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room: for the new '991' generation, the GT3, which is long regarded as the most hardcore and most track-focused of all 911 models, is claimed to only be sold with Porsche's trick dual-clutch PDK transmission. For the first time, the GT3 variant might forgo the purist-preferred H-pattern manual transmission. Porsche execs have yet to confirm the rumor. However, automotive enthusiasts are already buzzing over the worrisome claim.
An important occasion for Porsche, the upcoming Geneva Motor Show not only marks the official public unveiling of the new GT3, but will mark the 50 year celebration of the legendary 911 moniker as well.
Despite the questionable gearbox choice, the GT3 is all about uncompromised performance. The GT3 is fitted with its iconic large fixed tea-tray rear wing and featured a wider-more curvaceous stance to wrap over a potent set of 20-inch wheels. According to Porsche, the GT3 will produced 450 hp from its 3.8 liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine.
According to Porsche, the new GT3 will accelerate from 0-to-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 195 mph.
Beyond the product GT3, the automaker will also offer the GT3 cup car, though production will be limited to just 2,400 units.
Stay tuned as we learn more about the new Porsche 911 GT3 at tomorrow's Geneva Motor Show 2013.
