The 2014 Winter Olympic curling slate recently completed another round robin set and following a strong opening competitive schedule, the tournament will move into Day 5 with plenty at stake. Thanks to a crucial 5-3 victory over the United States Thursday morning in Sochi, Great Britain leaped into a tie for second with Sweden, with both international teams posting 4-1 overall records. Though China did not participate Thursday after a two-match slate the day before, the Chinese Nationals maintained their place atop the leaderboard with an unblemished record of 4-0. Wednesday victories over Switzerland (5-4) and Germany (11-7) further solidified the Chinese as the top team -- at least for the moment -- in the 2014 Winter Games.

Day 5 of the Men's Curling tournament will take place on Friday, Feb. 14 with two separate qualification sets at 12 a.m., ET and 10 a.m., ET. The morning match-ups will feature a premier showdown between the top two teams in the standings, China and Sweden. Sweden's only loss came Wednesday to 2-3 Denmark but with a contest against one of the world's best, expect the Swedes to be ready to go Friday in Russia. While that match is taking place the United States (1-3) and winless Germany will do battle, with Canada taking on a Norwegian team that currently sits fourth in the standings.

Once session 7 comes to a close, teams will have time to prep for the final session heading into the weekend. When the eighth contest sheet opens up, Great Britain will play Denmark, Russia will battle the United States, China will meet Norway while Switzerland tango's with Germany. The China v. Norway meeting will serve as the most intriguing showdown of Day 5's second half but Great Britain's battle against Denmark will also be one to watch with GBR hoping to remain in the Top 3 and Denmark looking to move up from the sixth position.
