The main event of this year's 2013 North American International Auto Show at Detroit is tonight at 7 p.m. EST Sunday.
Held at Detroit's Russell Industrial Center to a limited audience, the high-profile unveiling event of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is said to be presented by none other than General Motors Co. CEO and chairman, Dan Akerson.
Akerson shared his thoughts on the Corvette in front of the media on Wednesday: "It’s going to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made. It’s a real statement about the new GM, today’s GM, and it’s a statement about Chevrolet and our prospects.”
Exact specifications on the upcoming 2014 Corvette have yet to be released but its philosophy is clear. Just like Daft Punk's electro-house hit, the new Corvette promises to be "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" than the outgoing 'C6' in every way.
In October, GM revealed an all-new small-block V8 motor, codenamed 'LT1', that will be used in the new Corvette (find out more about the LT1). The 6.2 liter powerplant promises a power output of 450-hp and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. Acceleration from 0-to-60 is under four seconds and the top speed will be dangerously close, if not reach, the 200 mph.
The significance of the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 cannot be overstated: not only does the new C7 represent the latest iteration of America's most iconic sports car, but 2013 also marks the Corvette's 60th anniversary.
You do not want to miss this world class event: the grand unveiling will be live streamed tonight at 7 p.m. EST.
