2014 Chevy Corvette design Chevrolet

The official unveiling of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette draws ever closer as Detroit's 2013 North American International Auto Show will be held in just two months time.

This morning, Chevrolet has released a second official teaser of the Corvette sports car. Placing an emphasis on design, the latest Corvette teaser features a number of highly stylized macroshots revealing the sculpting and wind tunnel testing process required for the new Chevrolet sports car.

Shedding light on the design philosophy of the latest 2014 C7 Corvette, exterior design manager Kirk Bennion said, "Performance cars are definitely all about form follows function. But I would say beautiful form follows performance driven function." At first glance, Bennion's abstract statement sounds like little more than a scripted PR message. However, we would not be surprised if GM's latest sports car aims for extreme visual impact to ignite the hearts of its fans.

So far, we know that GM will be introducing an all new "LT1" 6.2 liter direct-injection smallblock V8 engine that promises a power output exceeding 450-hp and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. The LT1 powerplant is 99.9 percent new and Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juecter says, "The LT1 is more powerful, more responsive, and more efficient than a smaller displacement V8."
