As history tells us, the 911 Turbo is the technological trailblazer of the Porsche range, introducing new systems and technologies that will later trickle down among lesser 911s in the portfolio. Slated for a spring 2014 market debut, the 911 Turbo will boast an all-wheel-drive powertrain expected to produce no less than 530-hp. What's more, German auto publication Autobild has just reported that the coming Porsche Turbo will feature a trick four-wheel-steering setup as well.
The Porsche 911 has stuck with its original rear-engine/rear-wheel-drive layout ever since its conception and as the German automaker continues to give the 911 more power, engineers must think of new ways to tame its inherently unstable, snap-oversteer handling. Active rear-wheel-steering uses computers to calculate small and precise corrections to improve a vehicle's handling at high speed. At low speed, rear-wheel steering also helps to reduce the turning radius.

Over the generations, the 911 turbo has already pushed the handling abilities of the rear-engine Porsche to inconceivable limits and we can't wait to see what Porsche will come up wit next in its latest '991' iteration. While there's still more than a year left of wait, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S set to debut at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show should give us a general impression of what to expect from the Porsche flagship.
