Ford reports yet another recall regarding its new 2013 Ford Escape Crossover. Back in July, Ford announced a brake pedal interference recall that affected approximately 10,000 2013 Ford Escape Models. Later that same week, Ford reported yet another defect concerning a fire risk related to a leaky fuel line. Addressing the problem, Ford urged their customers to refrain from operating the vehicles immediately.
Today, a third recall has been announced over the 2013 Ford Escape -- a cup plug may be prone to dislodging in 7,600 examples equipped with the 1.6 liter Ecoboost engine.
According th the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a dislodged plug would cause the vehicle's coolant to drain, posing an immediate threat of fire. While Ford has yet to receive any reported fires from 2013 Escape owners, one incident that occured at a dealership was all it took for Ford Motor Co. to respond.
Parts for replacement are already in stock for the repairs, which Ford claims will take approximately three hours for every vehicle. Repairs for the recall will be performed at certified Ford dealerships free of charge. Be sure to contact Ford's customer service line at (866) 436-7332 to voice any further concerns.
