18-Month-Old Baby Dies After Her Mother Runs Her Over While Parking Car

An 18-month-old infant has been reported dead after her mother allegedly accidentally ran her over while she was parking her car in Herkimer County, New York on Monday, June 27.

The tragic turn of events reportedly transpired at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, in the woman's driveway as the 18-month-old girl and her mother had just come back from buying groceries for their home located on Bull Road in the town of Schuyler in Herkimer County, New York.

After arriving at their residence. the mother took the groceries out of the car and carried them inside their house. Meanwhile, the child stayed outside the home playing on an outdoor playset. After the mother finished taking all the groceries inside, the mother went back out to her car to park it. As the mother began to pull her SUV forward to park the car, however, the child ran in front of the vehicle and the mother accidentally drove over her daughter, People reported.

When the mother felt the impact, she immediately stopped the car, got out of the vehicle, and noticed her daughter lying unresponsive in the driveway. She instantly picked her daughter up and carried her inside the house before dialling 911 for emergency help. The mother reportedly shortly began performing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the child.

Kunkel Ambulance subsequently responded to the scene and transported the little girl to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. However, the doctors at the facility pronounced the child dead upon arrival.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. According to officers, no charges are expected to be filed against the mother.

In a similar but unrelated incident, an 18-month-old boy was reportedly killed after his father ran over him while reversing his pick-up truck in the driveway of a home in Barrington, Illinois on April 20, 2021, Latin Times reported.

The infant was reportedly outside their home with his mother and siblings when the tragic incident happened. When the father reversed his pick-up truck, the boy ran toward it and was run over by the car's front tire.

The parents did not see the child approaching the moving vehicle. The child, identified as Sebastian Kusnir, was rushed to the Good Shepherd Hospital by his parents but was later pronounced dead.
