A 17-year-old boy reportedly collapsed to the floor and died after one of his friends playfully slapped him during school hours in Diamond Harbour, West Bengal, India on Monday, July 4.

The unnamed teen schoolboy and his friends were reportedly having a playful conversation during the interval time between two school periods when things took a tragic turn. During the exchange, the boys allegedly decided to engage in a mock fight amongst themselves. However, during the play fight, one of the victim's friends slapped him beside his ear. As soon as the boy was hit, he lost balance, collapsed onto the floor inside the classroom, and became unconscious, Millennium Post reported.

Following this, the students informed the teachers regarding the incident, and the boy was rushed to a local hospital for immediate treatment. However, the doctors and hospital staff at the facility declared him dead upon arrival.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and detained the student with whom the boy was allegedly involved in a mock fight for questioning.

After a preliminary investigation, a case of unnatural death was registered in connection with the incident.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man reportedly died after his friend viciously slapped him following a heated argument while they were out drinking alcohol in Kurla, Mumbai, India on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, Latin Times reported.

The incident reportedly occurred after a heated argument broke out between Rahul Kamble and Avinash Balekar while were out drinking in public on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021. During the explosive confrontation, Kamble, in a fit of rage, allegedly slapped hard Balekar in the face. Balekar, who fell unconscious after the attack, had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment but was declared dead upon arrival at the health facility.

Following Balekar's death, officers arrested Kamble and charged him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

"Kamble slapped Balekar, who fell unconscious and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Kamble was arrested and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder," a VB Nagar Police Station official said.
